Why Political Wonderkid Lucas Gorelick Believes No One’s Ever Too Young to Make a Difference in Politics

Sometimes, age can get in the way of one’s desire to make change happen. But people like Lucas Gorelick are here to show that it shouldn’t. He’s showing the way for youth to get involved in politics and make the country a better place.

Lucas Gorelick has a lot going for him. Apart from being a Campaign Finance intern for Senator Cortez Masto from Nevada, he’s taken into intensive research for potential funds to sustain the campaign. One of his key roles is to collaborate closely with the Senator and Financial Director by recognizing important areas and functions to receive campaign donations.

“My past work has been working with several campaigns and organizations predominantly for the 2020 Congressional, Senate, and Presidential elections. I have worked to elect President Joe Biden, Senator Jon Ossoff, Senator Raphael Warnock, Senator Mark Kelly, and other public officials,” says the Campaign Finance intern.

Lucas is serving as a campaign intern to Senator Cortez-Masto, Nevada Virtual Field Office Leader for Students Demand Action, along with Campaign Field Director for Adam Mayberry for WCSD.

At the young age of sixteen, he had already evaluated and finished various projects at a time to support the campaign for United States Senate. He believes that being young and already being involved in nation-building is what makes him different from others.

“Being young, I am doing jobs and work that many people out of college do. I have proved that age is nothing more than a number and doesn’t define your work ethic or skills,” says the intern. Lucas Gorelick got politically involved when he was only 14 years old. After hosting a Joe Biden event at his house in February of 2020, he was invited to join the Biden for President Team as a fellow. As a fellow during the COVID pandemic, Lucas helped to organize phone banks, host socially distanced events, cure ballots after the election, and more. During his time with the Biden Campaign, he met many different politicians along his path, including the former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Julian Castro.

At that time, the young Campaign Finance intern strongly believed that making a difference is not limited to age. “Politicians, along with students, share my story on never being too young to pursue your dreams.” With his current path on the political stage, he is looking forward to working with other politicians who have the same values and aspirations as his. He is also looking forward to working side by side with the next generation. He is looking forward to sharing his story and inspiring them so they know that they are never too young to pursue their dreams.

“As more people would get to know who I am, I would want to inspire the youth in America to understand that they are never too young to make change,” says Lucas. His great motivation to make a significant contribution to politics is backed up by the strong desire to secure a better future for himself, his country, and the future generations to come. “It would be irresponsible to leave our country unsolved with the current problems. Other than that I want to take away the division that our country is facing,” says the young visionary.
