Mikiah Azarcon is the founder of GO-GETTER Co., an e-commerce lifestyle brand headquartered in Beverly Hills, California, and established in 2020. The company offers a modern reimagining of a wallet, providing a trackable, expandable, RFID-secure, slim wallet that conveniently fits in a person’s front pocket. The company launched the GO Wallet in July of this year, and it has already done +$100,000 in sales three months after its release. Mikiah Azarcon started his company inspired by many other successful go-getters. His hard work has paid off, and he highly credits it to the daily habits he cultivated to develop his company. In this article, Mikiah wants to provide tips on how others can grow and expand their horizons.

In starting any project, Mikiah establishes clear goals, priorities, and deadlines. Goals give Mikiah a clear picture of what he is working towards. Setting Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-based (SMART) goals make it easier to check progress and course-correct. Determining priorities requires clarity on which tasks are important or urgent. Mikiah says, “Tackle the most pressing concerns first, then work your way down. If you don’t prioritize what’s important to you, what’s not important will become your priority and everything will feel urgent.” And when it comes to deadlines, Mikiah likes to follow Parkinson’s Law, which states that work expands to fill the time available for its completion. Establishing a timeline can be problematic initially, but setting a deadline with just the right amount of time becomes more straightforward.

Mikiah Azarcon follows Pareto’s Principle, also known as the 80/20 rule, which states that 80% of the results come from only 20% of the work. With this rule in mind, Mikiah likes to focus his efforts on the areas and tasks that will get him closer to achieving his goals. Mikiah mentions, “Most of the time, people get caught up in work that isn’t relevant or pushes them closer to their goal. Remember, being busy isn’t the same thing as being productive. Make sure to focus on actionable tasks that actually push the progress needle forward.” In relation to this, Mikiah shares that he isn’t afraid to delegate or outsource tasks, saying, “Delegating frees me up to focus on areas that are more crucial.”

When it comes to getting things done, Mikiah uses the Pomodoro technique to work more efficiently. “I go into what I call “deep work sessions”, working for 90 minutes with my door locked and my phone notifications turned off. I make sure I am absolutely focused on my task for the full 90 minutes — no playing with my phone, no notifications, no communications with others, and no surfing the web. Then I take a 20-minute break. I repeat this until all my tasks are finished. Focusing is such a simple concept, but if you study the way people work, most of them are constantly distracted by notifications and so much more. The ability to truly focus and lock in is one of the things that sets me apart from my peers,” he shares.

Working towards a goal can be a challenging process, but having the right mindset helps. Mikiah believes that building the habit of being proactive has aided him. When he focused on how he can respond to situations, he found a way to regain control. He mentions, “You can’t always control what happens, however, you always have control how you react to things. Being reactive is the worst habit to have as you are constantly allowing your circumstances to control you. Be proactive, be poised, and control your circumstances by first controlling how you react.” In relation to this, Mikiah shares that you have to learn how to not let people get in your head. Insecurity can have a negative impact on everything you do, but it’s important to not be reactive when pessimists get in the way. Mikiah says, “It’s difficult to achieve anything when you’re worried about what others are thinking. It’s important to validate yourself from within, know your worth, and remember those who’ve achieved great success always did something different.”

Mikiah also noticed his social environment affected him. He stopped seeing people who pulled him down and instead surrounded himself with ambitious people who inspired him to achieve more. He mentions, “Whether you believe it or not, those you spend the most time with truly have an impact on who you become.” While social ties are essential, Mikiah does not shy away from saying no to events that do not align with his goals or contribute to his happiness, stating that “Saying no is okay. People will mistaken your focus as coming off as aggressive or antisocial. When this happens, you need to understand that not everyone is born with the relentless mindset to constantly want more.”

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is another habit that Mikiah Azarcon lives by. “You can’t perform your best if you’re not taking the time to nurture yourself. You need to continuously nurture your mind, body, and soul to perform at a high level day after day and avoid burnout,” he says. He created a morning and evening routine for himself. In the morning, he journals to practice gratitude and writes down his goals. Doing this allows Mikiah to start the day off on the right note and constantly reminds him what he wants to achieve. At night, he writes down any lessons he learned that day before writing a plan for the next day. Doing this allows Mikiah to deeply reflect on how he can improve and also saves him time the next day from figuring out what he should be doing. He also exercises five to six times a week and consumes a healthy diet.

Mikiah also says that sleep is a priority for him. “Getting eight hours of sleep is important. Sometimes we sacrifice sleep to get more work done, but we should all strive to designate the proper amount of time to rest. There will be days where you must hustle and sacrifice sleep, however, at least strive to get 8 hours a night. People think that it’s always hustle, hustle, hustle. However, remember that it’s not how much sleep you get that matters, but how you are spending your time while you’re awake” he shares.

As a successful businessman, various tasks fill Mikiah Azarcon’s days. He likes to plan out his day meticulously. Having a clear list of things you need to do and a schedule you can follow ensures a productive day. And although Mikiah likes to plan out his day, he stresses the importance of focusing on the present moment. “Overthinking about the future or dwelling on the past is not a good way to live. My last piece of advice is live in the moment and just focus on winning today. When you focus on winning the day, you will win the week. Win as many weeks as you can and you win the month. Win as many months as you can and you win the year. Win as many years as you can and you will win life. ”
